Abstract |
Background. According to the State Automobile Inspectorate of RF Ministry of Internal Affairs, 200 thousand vehicle accidents happen each year in the Russian Federation and, as a result, more than 20 thousand people, including 1000 children, die. More than 250 thousand people get injured. Therefore, there is an urgent need in special activities aimed at the enhancement of medical aid rendered to those injured in car accidents. The objective of the research is to analyze the efficiency of enhancement of pre-hospital aid rendered to patients injured in car accidents in Astrakhan region.
Materials and methods. The data for the research are annual reports of The Disaster Medicine Centre and Emergency Call Service for the period of 2012–2015, calls records filled in by the doctors working in these organizations.
Results. As a result of the organized activities aimed at the enhancement of prehospital emergency medical aid rendered to the injured in car accidents, it was possible to reduce the number of the injured in car accidents and decrease the index of the injured as well as the death and injury frequency rate.
Conclusions. Within the analyzed period (2013–2015) the number of calls connected with car accidents reduced by 18,9 %, and the number of the injured decreased by 17,1 %. Within the period of 2013–2015, the mortality rate of the injured in car accidents and taken to hospitals decreased by 8,8 %.
